Mining asteroid resources to meet Earth's resource demands

What we Can Found  Minerals that can be found in asteroids are: iron, nickel, iridium, palladium, platinum, gold and magnesium to name a few. However, metal is not the only thing that would be mined from asteroids. There is some interest in water extraction. Such technology could also have a tangible impact on the  environment.  Method  use for Space Mining Most notably, asteroid mining would obviate the need for traditional earth mining methods that release toxic chemicals such as lead and arsenic into waterways and contribute to acid mine drainage. Asteroids often contain important metals such as iron, nickel and cobalt, as well as small amounts of precious metals such as platinum .  Considerations Given these considerations, a single asteroid with the right composition could be worth trillions of dollars in raw materials. How will asteroid mining benefit humanity?  Water resources: enabling extensive exploration of the Solar System. Metal resources: for ...

Challenges of Mining Asteroids

Problems with Mining Asteroids Asteroid mining is a difficult task. To successfully mine these space rocks, a number of difficulties must be solved. Finding an asteroid with the appropriate minerals is one of the hardest hurdles. There are millions of asteroids in space, but the majority are not valuable enough to mine. It might be like looking for a needle in a haystack. Finding a way to an appropriate asteroid is the next difficult task. These asteroids are frequently found in distant parts of the solar system. The ability to travel to these remote regions requires technologies that mining corporations must have. The mining itself poses a hurdle as well , it seem to be more costly then its benefits .
